Thanksgiving features food.  The Pilgrims worked hard to make the new world their home, and this was their celebration.  It’s a pretty standard menu.  Pumpkin pie ends a turkey dinner that includes all the extras.  It’s a time when families get together to celebrate history.  But just like the colors of the leaves, Thanksgiving dinner recipes can be an amazing variety.

How about this Thanksgiving dinner recipe for a delicious appetizer? It’s a pretty simple Pumpkin soup.  Butter and oil simmer over a medium heat. Add three sliced leeks (only the white) and saute until the leeks are soft. Add 15 ounces of pumpkin puree, a pinch of cloves, one tablespoon of ground cinnamon, one teaspoon of ground ginger, and a pinch of salt.  Now stir in some vegetable broth. Next comes brown sugar.  Use low heat to simmer it for 10 minutes. If desired pour a tsp or so of cream or half and half into the bowl before adding soup and a dash of cinnamon.  Mmmm boy that’s delicious.

For the main course try frying the turkey instead of broiling it. Don’t worry, fried turkey isn’t greasy. The oil is so hot it sears the skin, thus the oil can’t penetrate it. For this task a big oil pot and propane burner are used. Turkey fryers can be found in stores like Walmart. A meat thermometer is also needed, along with a deep fry thermometer to check the oil for the correct temperature. Make sure to fry outside in a clear area. Heat the oil to between 325 degrees and 350 degrees F. The turkey takes about three minutes per pound to fry to about 170 degrees F in the breast. It’s common to inject spices into the turkey during frying, but the dressing is usually not fried along with the turkey.

For some other Thanksgiving dinner recipes for soup, try curried pumpkin apple soup, butternut squash soup, or pumpkin and sausage soup. But there are other good appetizers for the meal.  Cheese wrapped asparagus is delicious.  This calls for both a sliced cheese and a soft cheese spread.  A blue cheese spread over slices of swiss can be good.  Wrap the asparagus with the slices spread with the soft cheese, then bake until tender at 230C.  Ok, this way asparagus isn’t healthy.  Thanksgiving is a time for a little fun.  So live it up.

What is the perfect meal you can offer a loved one for a night in? There are a lot of options in terms of what to cook and what not to and it is difficult to find the right one. I have decided to list a few ideas for anyone out there who is considering cooking a meal for their loved one and is not sure what to prepare and how to cook it.

I started looking at recipes and ingredients on the BBC website, I have selected one in particular that I think would be good to cook for your partner. The first meal that I have selected is a vegetable and salmon bake. It will take just twenty minutes to prepare and roughly 10 or twenty minutes to cook. It is easy to do and the ingredients are quite reasonable.

Here is a step by step guide on how to cook this meal;

1. Preheat the oven to 220C/425F/Gas 7
2. Place the cream in a saucepan over a medium heat, and, when warm, add the potato and leeks and bring to a simmer for 3-4 minutes.
3. Remove the cream mixture from the heat and allow to cool for a few minutes. Gradually add the egg yolks and cheese, whisking constantly until all the cheese has melted.
4. Finish it off with extra mature cheese and place back into the oven to bake for just ten minutes, or until sunny golden and cooked all the way through. Top with extra cheese and place into the oven to bake for ten minutes, or until golden and cooked through.
5. To serve, place the chives on top of the dish.

By following these guide lines properly you should be left with a lovely looking, healthy and delicious meal for both of you. Other things to think about whilst preparing a meal like this are the tableware, cutlery and glassware. Each of these items contributes to that special meal and enhances the mood.

I hope this will help and good luck! I hope you have enjoyed this recipe, happy cooking!
